| Elegance coral | zoa releasing algae hey i have had this colony of pink palys for a lil over 4 months now, they have been doing awsome, nearly doubleing their colony. But the other day i saw them releasing green slimy stuff out of their oral disk.At first i thought ya their just pooping. But after more research they are actualyy spewing out excess zooanthelite spelling? does this mean their growing to fast snd the zooanthilite is growing faster then the colony?cuz they have grown quite fast.i even fragged them in half and it dont even look like i touched them

| Scopas Tang | Re: zoa releasing algae Usually if they are expelling zooxanthellae it will be brown in color in my experience and is usually associated with lighting that is too intense and they are trying to adjust to the levels and or are stressed. Have you moved them recently because after 4 months they should be pretty acclimated to the lighting unless it has been changed? They could also be just sliming from the recent fragging that you have done.

| Neon dottyback | Re: zoa releasing algae Wow, I just started another thread on almost the same exact thing! One of my palys discharged a cloudy milky-like substance this morning. It appears healthy otherwise. I was hoping it was trying to breed !!! |
