Question Mystery rock??? Please help

Sorry for the terrible pics! Well im staring to get this red algea growing in a few places.. its almost leaf-ish... Then there is bubble algea i think (is that bad?) And something orange, looks like a sponge... And lastly what I think is a couple spots of corraline algea. But please tell me what you think they are and if they are good or bad. Thanks a lot!

Re: Mystery rock??? Please help

Only one I can comment on is the Bubble Algae. I know a couple of people who think it's the coolest looking stuff and love it. Most people don't. The problem is if you mess with it you rupture the bubble releasing MORE spores.

Here is a general run-down of how I read (on RS I beilieve) how to safely get it out.

1) Use Super Glue Gel and make a coating all around the BA enclosing it completely. Allow this to set up a couple of minutes and then pull the whole new next out and your BA should still be intact inside the Super Glue.

The red-leafy stuff I had in my tank here at work for a while but something ate it so I didn't have time to ID it. Wish I could help more.

with a SW set up there is one basic fundamental rule that we ALL should follow
When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Yes that is bubble algae and should be removed. It can take over rapidly. It is usually safest to remove the rock and then remove the algae. If you pop the bubble in the tank you will spread the spores and have even more of it. I can't really see what you are talking about on the others. The sponge like thing is probably just that, a sponge. I can't comment on the other though since the pic is not very clear.

the red is a macro, known as red calupra some fish will eat it but not many. if you remove it be careful because some species of it have little spines and are venomous.
