| -CHAUVINIST PIG- | Re: oh boy oh boy!!!! i just have all this free area under my overhang in my LR so i got two lil frags of sun polyps to nestle under there. then at this LFS in boulder they have a beautiful red gonipora (cant spell that) with bluish purple tips. i freggin love this thing, but they want $99 for it. they had the exact type at just coral for $44. SO, i got the gonipora, 2 sun polyps and shipping for a total of $105. so i just got 3 tight pieces of coral + shipping for what i would have paid for the gonipora at my LFS. i feel good BUNG!

| Scopas Tang | Re: oh boy oh boy!!!! I once had a gonipora. It died in 3 months, even though I target fed it every other night. I looked it up and everyone said they are almost impossible to keep in a home aquarium, unless you completely specialize a tank for their needs. On the other hand, GREAT SCORE!

| Tridacna maxima | Re: oh boy oh boy!!!! I've got two gonis. One is absolutely gorgeous, full extention and great color. The other is dwindling away, I feed the same, but the thriving one is up high in the tank but shaded by the Seaswirl and center tank support and there's not room there for them both and I can't figure how to replicate the situation for the other. So it looks like indirect light is best, or at least filtered somehow, with low flow. Your gonna love the gonis. Feed em a mush of the following: cyclopeeze, DT's oyster eggs, and enough finely ground (crushed between you fingers to dust) dry flakes to hold it all together. Use the back of a spoon and mush it all together in a bowl, then use a syringe or a tiny turkey baster (baby meds dispenser) and target feed two or three times a week. You didn't ask for that, but that's what I use. OH, BTW, congrats on the awesome score!!

| Achilles Tang | Re: oh boy oh boy!!!! The reds are supposed to be easier to keep. My green goni died just shy of 2 years after being put in my tank. Woody's got a lot of info and good ideas on how to keep them. She's the only reason mine survived past the dreaded one year mark (the typical life span of a goni in a tank)

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: oh boy oh boy!!!! Wow, I was just looking at that site earlier today. Take a REAL good look at the lower portion of the goni, Mike thought it looked a slight bit damaged, not TOO bad though. I had a goni for a short time and apparently they like slightly "dirty" water. That goniopora.org site was a great help with mine.
