Placement for Acan Enchinata..

I've got a couple of bleached out Acan Enchinata colonies I got from a local FS to recoup. I' started the buggers on the substrate for a few days & yesterday placed them a lil lower then halfway down in a 24" tall tank with a 250W HQI MH 14k above it.

I've read conflicting care info on these corals. Everything from "Put them on the Substrate" to " Put them at the top off to the side". I've tissue inflation since bringing them home & it appears as those some color may be slowly creeping back. The colonies are still quite bleached, being nearly transparent.

Would targeted feeding aid in their recovery?

Any help would be appreciated..

If it helps one colony appears orange with green mouths & the other seems to be purple/blue with green mouths. The mouths (center) of the Purple/Green polyps are easily distinguishable while the orange colony is a bit more amorphous atm. All n All I'd say the Purple is doing a bit better than the orange; Tho it's been less than a week.

Mine aren't bleached but all varieties that I have do happily accept cyclopeeze. I only feed at night when they are extended.

How about their placement in the tank? Height-wise..Thats my biggest concern atm; Doing further damage.

Re: Placement for Acan Enchinata..

I would place them lower in the tank if you can for now and target feed a few times a week if they are willing to accept it. Mine are 20-22 inches away from a 250 MH 13k light and growing well.
