Re: Please Help with My Project!

Put me lower down on your list. I want to see if I can grow you some of those radioactive green zoas. They are one of my favorites but they grow so slow.

Great idea! Once I get into frags I would LOVE to trade with you or something! Soon your reef will be filled with beautiful coral!

Re: Please Help with My Project!

Mel I'll try and frag you something from My tank... not sure what.. I have some lovely Yellow Palys... or maybe something else later on? I have some GSP's but you have to keep them under control. I have had GREAT luck with UPS 2nd day. Just got a GREAT little walmart thermos from flricordia loaded with goodies and they arrived in GREAT shape. It doesn't HAVE to be overnight.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Please Help with My Project!

I could send you a few things in a month or so maybe. I justfragged a bunch of things for my clubs frag swap so once they recover I can get you some.

Just another thought to help save Mel some cash. If there are a couple of folks from the same area willing to send frags, they should send them as one package. Fed Ex charges by dimensional weight so it would be the same for probably up to 3-4 frags as it would be for just one frag.

Re: Please Help with My Project!

Seriously, you guys would be very surprised for what I pay for Fed Ex. It is sometimes cheaper for me to Fed Ex than mail something regular mail. (Not always, but most of the time in FL at least it's about $10 - $20 for priority overnight.)

This is so exciting! Since I'll be doing them one at at time, those of you that want to wait a couple of months, it will work out great!

That thermos idea is killer. I hadn't considered that.

Re: Please Help with My Project!

Melanie I really don't like to ship anything but when your tank is ready for some SPS I could send you a blue-tip Montipora digitata frag. I don't remember but what type of lighting are you running ?

I have 4 X 54 wt T5. I haven't tried any SPS corals because I believe they need more than 3 wt. per gallon. My lights must be pretty "bright" because my zoas prefer mid to low placement in the tank. What do you think? Yeah or nay?

Well Montiporas aren't as light demanding as Acroporas and if placed close to the surface it should be fine although may lose the blue tips. One thing you'll definitely need to do is to monitor your cal/alk/mag levels regularly and make sure there's no fluctuations. Are you dripping kalkwasser ?

Re: Please Help with My Project!

Christopher, I think Vdituri is going to send me some zoas and maybe ScubaDrew as well. I'll post thoroughly when we get the details worked out! I'm so excited. This will be fun to see everyone's frags growing in "our" tank! I should post my Dentoid story on this thread as well so it's all in one place. I'll cut and paste.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
