What are they? Blue Polyps

I dont know exactly, but to me they seem to be a type of xenia....who here can help, not much to tell about them, they retract and extend only a little bit, it is noticeable though. Very pretty soft blue-to purple(more on the blue side.) what do you think...couldnt get any of a closer pic, sorry..

good luck, please help!

Re: What are they? Blue Polyps

Not sure what they are but I have seen them ID'ed here before. Toss Me a piece of rubble up close so they can migrate to it and ship it over

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Looks like a VERY nice one. *drools on keyboard*

Good find there tippMANn98 buddy!!!

I think they are going to be ID'ed as a type of Star Polyp. I saw them posted on here a few months back and I guessed they were some type of Xenia but they were indeed called a Star Polyp ( if these are the same as the ones posted earlier). I'm the furthest from an expert in this area (or ANY area actually) but that's what they resemble. You folks on Florida get some AMAZING stuff. By the time that stuff gets way up here in the mountains of Western North Carolina it's basically left overs and pest stuff

Again excellent specimen there

Re: What are they? Blue Polyps

Scuba, I don't think it is a blue tip cup coral because the polyps are different.

Tipmann - do they have a soft or hard base? They look to be either a type of tubipora (if hard base) or some type of daisy/star polyp (if soft base).

Re: What are they? Blue Polyps

They are clove polyps.

Vivid Aquariums Tropical Fish Store in Los Angeles - Buy Clove Polyps (Clavularia sp.) - Small: 2"-3"

A wonderful addition. If you get tired of them let me know.

Re: What are they? Blue Polyps

woodstock- They dont have a base, each is its own, no mat like star polyps have or anything like it...

drhank- dont think they are clove polyps either, they are very small, ive seen clove polyps before and they are def. larger. And clove polyps have a soft base that they retract into.

The LFS owner said they were a type of blue star polyps, I said no way! Cuz there is no encrusting mat....

I think Beelzebob had something like that in his tank with Bane.

Re: What are they? Blue Polyps

They probably stand about 1/8-1/4 inch off of the rock, about the same spacing distance too.
