Unhappy My Anemone is no more...

I just got a Bulb Anemone this afternoon. As the title says, he's no more. My filter got him while I was out with my friends. His mouth is ripped wide open and the tentacles that were not damaged are starting to deflate.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

Dude, that sucks alot. Most people put screens or something over all intakes, nems love to try getting into places they should not be. Anyways, sorry to hear about the loss, you 100% sure its gone? Some stuff can look pretty beat up and still pull through.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

I'm hoping at least a part of it makes it through, but I'm not counting on it. Its mouth is ripped wide open and the various little knicks in its side are leeching guts? It's currently living in a plastic cup.

Hi might make it. I was given a RBTA that was a small chunk of another RBTA who fell victim to a filter

Re: My Anemone is no more...

He's starting to expand and his tentacles are blowing up again, so he's looking better. If one side dies, how exactly do I save the other side? Cut it?

I'd just leave it alone and keep an eye on it.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

Which tank is this in?

Do you now have the filter "covered" so it can't get back into it?

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Actually, if one half looks dead you can always frag it.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

I have no clue how, but he looks like nothing has happen Anyway, the silly thing finally settled right near the filter that cause all my woes last night. At least the filters are covered now. As for that fragging, it's scary to think I'm cutting a living thing in half.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

would love to see photos of the fragging. I for one wouldn't have it in me to take a razor to an anemone.

Re: My Anemone is no more...

sorry to hear about your new anemone, same thing has happened to me before. one I was able to save the other didn't make it. if fragging the good part saves it from dieing then why not do it? let us know how it turns out...
