| Plate Coral | This rose bubble anemone is a beauty! It found a spot where i guess its comfortable. BUT its slightly obstructed from my view by another coral in front of it. Do these anemones move around at all? Or do they just stay put once they find a spot they like? Can I move it to another spot in the tank? Or will I damage it by forcing it out of the spot its in now? Also my clowns havent gone near it yet.....will they eventually snuggle up with it? Anyone? |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Lots-O-questions... Yes, they can and will move around until they find that "sweet spot". Once they find a spot they like, they MIGHT stay put...It's a craps shoot... You can try to make it move by changing the water flow where it's at, or by pointing a power head at it, but you might not like where it moves too..you just never know...I had one of my rose clones move onto my Mag-Float on the front glass and stay there for several months... It finally moved, and camped right on top of one of my zoanthid colonies, and stung an SPS frag to death...They can & will sting lots of things as they travel around your tank... Clowns...tank raised? If so, it may take them a few days or even several weeks, but most likely they will figure it out eventually...When I put the rose in my 40 gallon, there was a Black Perc/oscellaris in the tank...Also a Green BTA there, but the clown always ignored it...It took him about 2 weeks, hanging around, loooking at the rose like it was supposed to mean something, but couldn't ...quite...figure it out...Then all of a sudden, it finally came to him, in he went, and now, if I get my hand too close, he nails me! Ungrateful Lil bstard! So now, I have 5 roses in the tank and 2 green BTA's in there...That clown is in heaven! ![]()

| Reef Shark ![]() | The tentacles will grow out as it acclimates to your tank...My recommendation would be to leave it where it's at...like I said, if you move it, you never know where it might end up... Hopefully you have all power heads and the like well protected...Personally, I like the Hagen Quick Filter housings for ALL my power heads... MOST powerhead intake screens just aren't "anemone friendly"...

http://home.att.net/~karenssaltwater...ID-718890.html If you do handle the anemone for any reason, feeding moving it whatever, be sure to wash your hands well afterward, so you don't accidentally transfer any of the nematocysts from your hands to your eyes...that is supposed to be PAINFUL!

| Reef Shark ![]() | It was the normal Maxi-jet screen that got my green one last year...I don't take the chance any more...

| Fire Coral | You should also be careful if you have overflow boxes. I strongly recomend building up the height of the overflow boxes with eggcrate lighting grids to prevent the RBTA from going into your overflow.Once in the overflow it can clog/shut off your return to your sump. I had this happen to me on my 450. I was at home, but I still had about 50 gallons or so of a flood. ![]()
