| Manta Ray | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? josh, you may have bought an un healthey anemone. if it cant hold on to its food, touch it and see if he is stickty to your touch. ( atleast thats whAT i did with my sebae )i have fed my sebae FD mysis, but i like to feed him frozen quid the most, they are big chunks so i dont have to stick alot of shrimp on him ![]() good luck

| Star Polyps | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? my anemones eat krill everyday, and everyonce inawile a silverside. krill stimulates the color so thats my main reason why i feed krill. and feed it every 3 days. they dont need to eat much, they use the light for some food.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? Anemones live primarily on light but they can use food to supplement. If you just got the anemone it is likely just establishing itself and I wouldn't necessarily worry about the lack of initial feeding. What type of tank envoronment do you have for this anemone? Do you have a stable tank? One that has had solid parameters for 6 months or more. Do you have high lighting? Preferrably MH but enought T5 will do. If not I strongly suggest you return the anemone. If you do have the required environment then I congratulate you on doing research before you bought the animal.

| Star Polyps | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? well i have done my research and learned the hard way. but i have both t-5 and a box with triton bulbs, so my tank is really bright, i dont actually know the specific size of the tank someone told me 120 and someone else said 125 so its either or. but overall i dont really have to test weekly or any of that all my corals are doing great keep my tank at a constant 77 degrees seems to be the right tempature for me. iv got good flow and do my weekly water changes. so possibly just the stress on the anenome adapting to a new environment. im not sure if i mentioned earlier but its a long tenticle

Not unusual at all for the Anemone not to eat initially, give it time to find a home and acclimate to the tank. This Anemone is usually a sand dweller so you should have a Deep Sand Bed.

| Tubeworm | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? I would suggest trying a few different varieties of food initially. Both of my anemones(LTA and Haddoni) refused frozen krill at first, were somewhat interested in chopped squid, and strongly prefered pieces of silverside. Once they were used to being fed in the tank they would eat anything I fed, including flake, and a meaty homemade frozen mix. |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? Look at HMA's tank and look at his weekly test results and then tell me you don't need to test. Testing helps you identify a problem before it gets out of hand and very difficult to fix. All tanks should be tested weekly for Salinity, nitrate, ph, calc, alk, mag at minimum. Depending on your stocking and dosing you may need more testing and/or testing of different chemical compounds. The chemistry of an aquarium is a very delicate thing particularly when you are dealing with such a sensitive animal. There are a lot of threads in the Chemistry forum that explain proper testing, paramaters, and how to maintain them.

| Midas Blenny | Re: long tentical anenomes will eat krill right? Sorry to be off topic...Are you sure its an LTA? It has too many tentacles ..it looks like an H. Crispa to me. Yeah like what Ganrin said..try other foods..squid and small pieces of sea scallops. All of my anemones love sea scallops.
