Carpet question

I'm thinking about setting up a shallow 60 gallon rimless cube and tieing it into my existing 180. I want to keep a single carpet and a pair or clowns. My question is, do carpets ever crawl out? I'd hate to cover it and reduce lighting.

they will move but ive never seen one crawl out...my 2' green carpet moves his base all the way to the top of the tank sometimes. never out of the tank though. he stopps when the foot just barely touches the surface

most of the time they like to keep their foot buried deep in the sand.
