Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

Closing for short periods is probably normal, as long as it doesn't stay closed. The white, stringy stuff is probably waste.

I just got a GBTA about 4 months ago and I'm still learning about it myself.

How big is it compared to the clown? I have a maroon clown that's paired with mine, and when I watched them for the first few days, I thought for sure that the fish would kill it.

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

the anemone can get like 4 times bigger than the clown... its very small clown... but it just seems like the clown is bothering it sometimes... but im pretty sure that my anemone was just getting rid of waste... its bloomed back out again after 20 minutes... im just nervous about it dying so i am watching it constantly and get a lil impatient

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

I understand. I was the same way when I got mine.

Make SURE you keep up with regular water changes, especially if it's a small system. I can really tell when I get slack on water changes because the nem looks like crap. What kind of setup do you have?

I don't mean to be flip, but I'm still going to say that your 10 gallon is not big enough for a BTA. You mentioned in your other thread that you are having nitrite issues, which means that your water parameters are not stable. The nem will not last long in this environment. I would recommend returning the nem to the store.

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

10 gallons is really small for an anemone. Give us some information on your setup, water parameters, and length of time it's been set up. If you're having water quality issues, Mark is right - it probably won't last long. More info would be good...

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

Clowns are known to host any number of corals, Euphyllia species (Frogspawn, Hammer) being the most common, but also Xenia, Leathers, and even large 'shrooms. Unfortunately, depending on how aggressively they wallow, they can kill these "hosts"

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

The only clown i heard for a bta is the regular one nemo, all the other ones are to aggresive with the bta and are obsessed with them and will kill it in time. I had a marroon clown and it was in my bta 24/7 and my bta would never open.so i traded it for a ossoleris i dont know how to spell that sry and now they are great togeather.....

Re: 2 things wit a bubble tip

There are quite a few clowns that will host a bta. I believe it is one of the most common for the clowns to host. I know my maroon and my clarkiis both host BTAs.
