| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Anemone Help You can try to use the water current to encourage it to move somewhere else. No real way to control where it wants to live. It will just keep moving. What kind of anemone is it?

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Anemone Help The sooner you realize (and accept) that you have no say in where the anemone chooses to be, the less stressful this will be... ![]() It's a sad fact that anemones often choose to be in the back of the tank, between rocks that completely block any view of them...THEY choose the spot where the water flow and lighting suits them...for now. You MAY be able to put something on top of the tank that shades the anemone, you've already altered the water flow...time will tell.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Anemone Help You really can't. That is one of the things abiut anemones. Even if you managed to move it without damaging the foot (very unlikely) it will probably move right back. That is obviously the place it feels most comfortable for now. They go wherever they want to go whenever they want to go there. The only thing you can do is to try to make it uncomfortable with flow and lighting.

| Elegance coral | Re: Anemone Help Spiro no offense to you but if you had properly researched nems before you got it you would already have known what BommerD and Lynn told you. It will wander where ever it wants to go and could possibly damage if not kill your corals in the process. If you physically try and move it there is a good chance you are going to injure it or kill it in the process. Next time ask some questions and research before you buy it will save you money, stress and loss of life. |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Anemone Help I've kept and raised bubble tips for over 20 years. They move where they want, and unfortunately, there's little you can do about where they choose...Getting one to move can be difficult, but if you try the methods I listed above, you MAY get it to move...but it still may not be where you want. Trying to physically remove it from the rock isn't a good idea. Most of the time, the hobbyist ends up tearing the foot, which is almost always a death sentence for the anemone. SOME people have luck getting them to move by pointing a power head directly at them, while others find the anemone enjoys the extra current. If you can move the rock it's attached to, that may be your best option. (even though sometimes, it's a rock that you like where it is, how it looks, etc., moving the rock is usually better than moving the anemone. When I used to sell the roses I raised, I usually had to sell the rock they were attached to, (or part of it anyway--hammer & chisel work well to break live rock)

| Ricordea | Re: Anemone Help Having fun getting mine to move to a smaller "disposable" rock. My bta has more than doubled in size in the last year and decided to move in the last week. To save some corals, I put a small rock next to the anemone and directed a powerhead at it encouraging it to move. So far so good. It's creeping up. I think it is time to trade him in for a rbta. |
