New Anemone

I have had my 37 gallon Reef tank up and running for almost the recommended time to add an anemone. Not really sure what kind it is but I was wondering if you guys could take a look at it and tell me what u think...Health, Species? It went through a pretty radical transition from when I first added it to the tank(3 days ago) until now.

Re: New Anemone

not the cup o tea for a reef tank. or any tank for that matter. IMO they are better off left in the wild because they cause too mant problems in the home aquarium

Re: New Anemone

The Light I am running is a T5 HO with 2 actinic and 2 15000k for a total of 96 watts, The Color seems to be coming back to him now with a rich purple filling down from the tips, although it still looks somewhat bleached. As far as Hosting goes my Clarki clownfish is very curious with it but so far will only host with its reflection .

Re: New Anemone

It's uncommon for clowns to host in the caribbean anemones, but it DOES happen from time to time. The drive in clownfish to be hosted is so strong that they'll often accept substitutes for what they know as a safe haven. I've also seen condy anemones eat clownfish...

Re: New Anemone

I had one. "He" lived for about a year. He was 2 inches when I got him, and about 11" when he died. He sure did like to move Though. I would never get one again. But they are really cool looking criiters.

Re: New Anemone

They get HUGE. I had to give mine to one of the local marine biology classes.
