| Reef Lobster ![]() | I made a big mistake... I was trying to get my BTA detatched and unintentionally punctured it pretty badly. I am assuming that the prognosis is not good. Anything I can do to try to save the anemone? I am soooo mad at myself Thanks Scott T. |

| Reef Lobster ![]() | Yeah, I had my finger under the foot, tryintg to work it off the rock. I guess I was using a little too much pressure. I had a piece of ice under the anemone and I think the base of it was sharp and manage to poke all the way through the anemone. I could put my finger through it as well so it is a pretty big hole. I guess it is just a waiting game at this point...

| Reef Lobster ![]() | Yeah, the puncture started at the foot and went through to the front of the anemone as far as I could tell. So, there definitly is some damage to the foot. I am really bummed... I am not too optomistic but I guess you never know.

| Reef Shark ![]() | The odds are not in favor of saving the anemone if that much damage was done. Keep a close eye on it, and if it becomes painfully obvious that it's going to die, get it out of the tank before it can foul the tank. This can/will happen VERY quickly, so be alert. Very sorry to hear of the misfortune. This is why I almost never try to move an anemone. I have a Rose BTA clone that has decided to take up residence on my front glass, firmly attached to my Mag Float cleaner. Oh well, it seems happy & healthy, so it can stay there. |

| Scopas Tang ![]() | When you say the puncture went thru the anemone, do you mean that you can see all the way thru the mouth or is there a seperate hole from the mouth? I moved my BTA a couple of months ago, partially tearing the foot, and freaked out when the mouth was opened and I could see all the way to the rock. It shrived up for a couple of days then returned to normal. I was still able to move it, though. Hope it gets better soon. -RY

| Manta Ray ![]() | Wow, sorry to hear about your anemone Scott. I have to echo Boomer, the odds arent in your favor, especially if the tear was as bad you say. But you might be able to keep this guy alive. Make sure that you dont touch it any more, especially the wound. that will only cause more damage and/or stress the anemone further. Keep your water quality pristine, its important in make sure it doesnt get an infection. When it appears open, (no gaping mouth, tentacles normally inflated etc) try feeding it. It will be very important to feed regularly if/when it opens up again since it will have been busy repainring significant damage to its foot. Also keep someplace well lit. If you could keep it in the same place it was previously that would be best, but close enough light and depth wise will be a decent alternative. You dont want to expose it to more or less light than it was previosuly and stress it out more. Good luck and please keep us informed. Nick

| Manta Ray ![]() | I had a small tear in the foot of mine when I bought it, and it did just fine, and Wood's was sucked into a powerhead and made it back, so its not hopeless. Nick

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Make sure the clowns stay out of it Scott. They can make it worse. Hope it gets better. As far as moving anemones, I always had best luck using a powerhead while holding a peice of flat plastic on the other side of the anemone, it usually starts crawling up the plastic where it can easily be detached. | Reef Lobster ![]() | No worries Woodstock, it certainly isn't your fault... I just got home and it is looking pretty rough, shrivled up as expected. I am going to see if it eats, if it doesn't eat by tonight, I am a little scared to leave it in the tank... Keeping my maroon away from the anemone is not going to be easy and I might even have to relegate it to the fuge for a while Ah well, we will just have to see. I don't mind learning from my mistakes but I had to jeopardize the life of something in my tank in the process. Thats whats gets me more than anything... Thanks for everyone's thoughts. If it does survive Woodstock, I will just give you the entire rock and call it a day ![]() Take er easy Scott T.
