Looking to loop another 20g long to my current setup, but will a pc 2x64w light be enough for bta or lta? If so what bulb combo will be good, looking to add a pair of true percs. Display already have a pair of oc already.

Re: Anemone light

you might get away with vho's for a while, why not get an electronic ballast like icecap and go with T5's?

Re: Anemone light

I have T5's for my main display but already have the pc fixture, just trying to see if I can get away with it. How bout this fixture ODYSSEA 24" HO T5 Aquarium Compact Light + Bonus!! - eBay (item 290222140836 end time Apr-19-08 08:59:16 PDT)
would that be a good one?

Re: Anemone light

Sorry if I double posted, the other with ebay link didn't show. I have the pc fixture already was looking to see if I can use it. Looking at 2 fixture on ebay I by Odessy or the nova extreme both uses 2x24w bulbs, is that good enough? 1 actinic and 1 10,000K bulb?

Re: Anemone light

NO no no no to that fixture. Stay away from anything ODDYSSEA! They aren't worth the paper in the box and have a terrible reputation for quality and starting fires. This is NO place to cut corners for sure. If you can't get at least T5's then you need to re-evaluate your coral selection. Yes there are some who "get away" with less for this coral but there are so MANY corals dieing for this very reason. Time to Cowboy Up and get the light it needs to change corals

Happy Reefing

Re: Anemone light

Thanks alot for that info, so how about the Nova Extreme T5 fixture? Also, are 2x24w T5's better than 2x64w pc?

Re: Anemone light

Well I'm going to have to say this... I may not be the "Right" person to ask this question because I REALLY LOVE Nova Extreme lights. I haven't had the pleasure of the "Extreme Pro" yet but if I were "in the market" I would highly suggest looking into that unit. It's got individual reflectors which really helps a LOT!

Good luck and Happy Reefing

Re: Anemone light

Yes, I love the Nova Extreme Pro. I have that for my main tank, 72g bowfront but they don't have that in 24in.

I use 1 x 24 Watt T5 AQUA Science Special 15.000 K and 1 x 24 Watt T5 AQUA Science Blue, both from Fauna Marin (germany). In USA to buy ..... I do not know. Maybe one can buy them at DLC but i'm not sure.
