Murder!!!

My damn anenome WILL NOT stay put in any single spot. I just walked by the tank to literally find him just floating around hitting ever coral. He has nearly murdered my large hyno. and i seriously almost killed the damn thing. How can i aid him in finding a spot. He stayed in the same place for a few weeks and then today he decided to be an ass and go EVERYWHERE!! Help me so i dont have to take em out!!

Re: Murder!!!

Anemones can not be made to stay in one spot. Many species have a tendency to wander. What species do you have?

Re: Murder!!!

If you don't feed it try feeding it every few days. It moves around because its not happy and it's looking for food.

Just my 2cents.

Re: Murder!!!

Yup, they'll do that. You should have done more research before buying it.

Re: Murder!!!

The picture in your gallery looks like a Condylactis species. They are notorious for wandering. As far as feeding, I do not advocate feeding a photosynthetic anemone more than once-twice a week in a tank with the proper lighting.

My advice is to get rid of it and consider a Entacmaea quadricolor or Bubble Tip anemone when your tank is mature enough to support the needs of this animal. They are more colorful than the condylactis and will host different species of Clownfish, unlike the Condylactis. Since the Bubble Tip anemone is a rock dwelling species, it is more apt to stay put once it finds a suitable location. You can even build a rock corral for it when introducing it to your tank.

Please don't kill it! If you do decide to remove it from your tank. Return it to the LFS. Remember, it didn't ask to be put in your tank and has given its life to your whim. You have a responsibility to preserve the animals fate. All the best!

Re: Murder!!!

Well said, good advice, and I agree whole heartedly. Returning it would probably be best.
