Traveling Condi.....

Well my condi seems to move alot!! always on the same rock and only a few inches but it has found a place I think it likes...all the tenticles are in a slight water movement that carrys them right to my green star... sections of the star still open and when the Condi moves they all open but I dont know how long they can stay closed... How do I convince him to move back to the other side of the rock? The Condi has been in my tank for just over a year and has gotten very large... I can feel the sting from it if it touches the underside of my arm... it leaves red welts... That is new since It has gotten so big.

Re: Traveling Condi.....

In a nut-shell... you can't. It moves due to light, flow or some other reason. Trust me when I say, "You're wanting to fight nature and she ALWAYS wins!"

Consider moving your GSPs to another local or you may want to consider selling/giving your condy to someone with a larger tank or at least one with more "condy friendly" room.

Good luck and Happy Reefing

Re: Traveling Condi.....

That is what I thought... I have plenty of room in my tank. I just didnt think through my GSB placement very well... I will try to move the original Frag but it is 5 x the size it was when I got it, and has grown on a very large rock.
Thanks for the insight...

Re: Traveling Condi.....

Anemones will go where they will go. He could get annoyed and move to a very different spot so in a way you are lucky that he is staying in the same general area. Also Condys get very big and can stretch out very long. I had one that monipolized 2 feet of tank space. None of the fish would go to that side of the tank and I couldn't put any coral their either. I ended up giving it away. The only way that I know of to try to move it is to aim a power head more directly at it. It may get annoyed and move away. Of course it may move back or move somewhere else that you don't want it to be.
