how to handle

Hi there1! I’m aquarium lover from the Philippines. I just want to ask if it’s ok to put directly the soft coral and anemone creature to my aquarium after getting it from the sea to preserve its freshness or just put it first in a container to remove its odor and other harmful bacteria that may harm my fish..
attached are pictures of the coral which I just want to ask if I can directly put it in my tank.

Re: how to handle

I always dip corals in a solution of disinfectant iodine (like Seachem reef dip) and flatworm remover...but that's just me.

Re: how to handle

i agree with catalyst. just dip it so you dont bring any unwanted pests and hitchhikers into your tank.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

I'll make the whole damn world jealous if given the money to do so.

Don't make mistakes and learn from them, read and learn how to avoid mistakes.

a)Fix the damn problem
b)live with it

Dang Kings! You mean you can collect specimens like that right outside your door?

I wanna come live with you.

The posters above know what their talking about. And yes, don't skip the acclimation.

Re: how to handle

hey there Kabayan. nice find. where in Pinas you from? Are you a member of reefphilippines? you might wat to use the drip acclimation method to avoid shock and after the drip dip it in an iodine solution for no more than 10 mins and into the tank it goes. Post naman ng pic.
mabuhay.

I'm flattered that you chose to use one of my pictures. Dipping is a good idea with specimens right out of the ocean.

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend
