My anemone is like flat with brownish red stuff coming out of it what do I do???

If its dead flush it,theiris nothing u can do now,u should have done some research 1st,anemones are a sensitive creature,some say expert level

Can you get a picture?

Also, what are your tank parameters? How old is the tank? How long have you had the anemone? What is your lighting? Do you know what type of anemone it is? Have there been any recent changes/additions to your tank?

Before I get to all the questions the anemone is still alive and will not let me take it off the rock.

Well that may well be the case, but seeing as they are not staying there, we need to educate folks on how to give them the best chance at survival.

Anemones can expel their zooanthelle (sp) due to stress and yet recover and live. Just because it expelled does not mean it is dead and should be flushed.
Without further information and a picture you can't make a positive ID as to the problem.

BTW, Bob. Ever heard of someone keeping a mantis for 30+ years?

If it is dead, take the entire rock out and with a screwdriver or your finger, tickle the underside where its attached to the rock and it will release.

Learned this trick from the guy at the reef store.

If it is still able to hold onto the rock then it is not dead. It may not be in the best shape right now BUT we need more info and maybe we can help him save this animal instead of just saying that it is dead or dying and he should throw it away.
