Re: what is this??????

I believe it's pooping.
They do that out of their mouths.
Did it recently have a big meal?

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: what is this??????

The only similar thing I had happen was when one of my early nems ate too much. It spit it out (kind of) but it was contained in what looked like one of the tentacles.
I don't think it is normal for things to come out of them frequently. Yes they poop and yes they spawn but I have never had them do either one frequently or at least I have not noticed it.
What kind of nem is it? It looks like it is pretty bleached. I would start feeding it a couple of times a week and make sure it is getting enough light. Also check your water parameters. Anemones do not like unstable parameters.

i tried feeding it some shrimp like 4-5 days ago and it wanted no part of it...how do i get it to eat if it doesnt want to. and yeah this looks like its something wrapped in a sac.. very strange... also, it might be over exposed in the picture, are seabea's not supposed to be white with colored tips? i know there is a yellow...

Re: what is this??????

I didn't realize it was a seabae. They are more white than other nems but that one still looks pretty white. The fact that it won't eat though is far more disturbing. Is it sticky? Did you try a whole shrimp or just a piece. My BTA prefers several smaller pieces instead of one large piece. You should be able to put the food on the tentacles and it will stick. Then the nem moves the food towards and into the mouth to eat it. If it is not sticky then that is a bad sign. Another thing to look for is if the mouth is gaping open or it loses hold of whatever it is attached to.
How long have you had the tank and the anemone and what is your lighting?

we have had the anem about 2 weeks... i would not have gotten it, but my husband picked it up, but he doesnt really know much about the tanks... he is learning... our tank is about 4-5 months old, so i realize not ideal for anem's but mu husband didnt know this either did i till be had it... he is a impulse buyer to say the least... lol.. anyways...i have a nano cube 28g, 150w/14K HQI lighting. the tests on water are all good...just got the ph to where it should be... and i did it slowly, but maybe the change is irritating it. but the nitrate, nitrites, ammonia, calcium, salinity and ph are all great right now, so i dont think its the water, unless ph is a factor. i tried bits of shrimp, no interest, its tentacles are sticky but it just let it go.

Re: what is this??????

Sebaes shouldn't be that white. I know there are different colors, but most that are sold at the fish stores are soo stressed they have spit up all their symbiotic algae. Here is a pic of my sebae.

That yours is sticky is a great sign. It means it isn't gone yet. You have great lighting. Just try some different meaty foods. Krill, silversides, scallops etc. Whatever it will eat. Don't give up just yet.

how would you go about feeding it if it doesnt want the food... aand i just checked and its not 100% sticky...the tentacles closest to its mouth are, but the farther out ones are not so much..

Re: what is this??????

Focus on the tentacles closest to the mouth then.
Or on the mouth directly. Different foods may get a different reaction.
A little variety of foods may get you a better reaction.

Many of these anemones have come along way from their homes and been put in who knows what kind of conditions. Try to baby it until it starts to come back.

Re: what is this??????

I don't have a whole lot of nem experience, but one I started feeding that we thought was a goner... it wasn't sticky at all either, wouldn't "take" anything, i actually pushed really small bits into its mouth and kinda held it there for a little bit until I was sure it wasn't coming back out. It SLOWLY closed its mouth over the food. did that every 3 days or so until we noticed a bit of color coming back. this was, like, a few months ago. It is only just now actively "taking" (wraping its tentacles around) food.

This was a bubble tip. don't know if sebae's are the same but maybe someone with more feeding experience will chime in.

good luck with it, it's pretty. Is anything hosting in it?
