Re: I need help with my GBTA??

nitrates are high, alc is unknown, magnesium is unknown, calcium is 420, The tried and true belief of " if you cant test for it, dont add it" applies. stop the poople up, buy some more test kits and we will be more than happy to help you get your water in line, your anems are unhappy because the water isnt right, just that simple. Re: I need help with my GBTA??

Galaxia and softie polyps are MUCH hardier than your anemone. I would try raising your pH to about 8.2ish, and really ANY nitrates could be deadly to your anemone. Good luck for the recovery! Also, I would acclimate for longer than an hour next time you buy and invert.

Our tank is about 6 months old.
I have been putting in Purple up for calcium.

I just bought an RO/DI system, so as of now we have been toping off the water ourselves. We do have a whole house filter now.

We do water changes once a month.
Have you tested for phosphates? Purple up raises phos i hear. I would stop the purple up. I used it when it first came out and had a terrible cyano out break. I also know a lfs that doses there reefs with it and everything is dieing in there systems. i recently had to stop going there because thee tanks looked so bad. don't know if purple up caused this buti have read a lot on it in other forums and the findings are not to good. Boomer could answer this question better.

Sorry Chris but that's not quite right. I had a few years ago a anemone tank. The nitrate level was always between 10-20. There is no Anemone died ..... See them here Death?

Current, salinity, PH, temperature and flow are the important factors, a somewhat elevated nitrate levels anemones survive without bigger problems. They have so Zooxanthellen and live not only by LIGHT, they need something nitrate. In the sea, it is usually below the detection limit of our measurement, but it is available.

Re: I need help with my GBTA??

the best way to raise the PH in my eyes is to add lime water. I have no experience with artificial means, I have never used.

Re: I need help with my GBTA??

PH up is a freshwater additive. I am not to sure you can use it in a marine tank.

Lime water increases both carbonate and calcium value. His only restriction is that it increases the pH, and therefore in a tank with many sps not enough of them can admit to the entire KH- and calcium consumption market.
Soda(sodium carbonate) increases the PH value and the KH WITHOUT to increase calcium also, in your case, perhaps the better solution.

Lime water is calcium carbonate, aka. kalkwasser. Lime as in limestone...

Not lime the fruit, don't add that to your tank!!
