Is this bad? it looks bad....

ok, we havn't had this anemone long...everything in our tank seems to absolutely flourish, and this anemone was looking GREAT(huge actually) till about 1 hour ago... it started emit this brownish sac looking thing.. then all of a sudden it was shriveling up and emitting a HUGE stream of brown slime. i was afraid it was going to harm my other corals so i netted out some of the slime.... now it looks like this...
it actually isn't as shriveled as it was and the slime isnt as thick or brown as it was... but still, tenticals are looking very deflated. i need to know if it is dying, and if not.. what is that? and what is that thing by his mouth.. tia

I wouldn't worry yet. It could well be either of the above. Watch the mouth for gaping or if the anemone detaches then you need to worry.

Re: Is this bad? it looks bad....

Think of where it's been before you bought it. A collector, holding facility, shipped to the USA, holding facility, shipped to your LFS and finally to your tank. You can figure the first time it had really decent water is in your tank. It's digestive system is out of wack and it now is trying to settle in. Watch it but, leave it alone for a while. It should come around.

Good analogy Dick. I'm the same way when I travel. "Things" get out of whack for me too! I'm just glad I'm not the ONLY thing with this issue

Re: Is this bad? it looks bad....

What size tank do you have?

what type of lighting do you currently have?

Last but not least how long has your tank been up and running?

i have a 28g Nano Cube HQI

the lighting is what came with it..
a 150W
115v-IPH 60Hz

and the tank has been up and running for 4-5 months... everything in my tank has thrived minus a couple little fishies.. but now the clowns are doing great. so i decided the tank was stable enough to get an anemone... do you know what this anemone is by chance?
