| Social Darwinism victim | What's this BTA doing? Tim's BTA has moved again, at least I know where it is: it's under a large LR, but he's upside down. The thing is attached upside down and pokes his "head" up through a hole like he's just putting a percentage of himself in any light. he's toward the bottom, making him a good 24 inches away from the 150W 14K MH. From what I can see, he's attached good and seems to be opening and closing at different times. Should I be worried about him? He seems the most delicate thing in the tank.

| Dancing Mandarins | Re: What's this BTA doing? Nothing to worry about. I have had several BTA's and they move around a lot. If you are lucky, he may be hiding out to get ready to split into 2 or more new ones. When mine split, they always went under the rocks and looked like they were dieing.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: What's this BTA doing? SPLIT???? Holy cow, i'm just babysitting this one... oh wait... possibilities... is 3 months too young a tank for a recently-split BTA?? ; ) oh, well. Tim can't seem to screw up his tank if he dumped lysol in it.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: What's this BTA doing? So the BTA I'm babysitting is still upside down under the LR. Haven't fed it directly 'cause he's out of the way, should I attempt to get him something? I have phytoplankton, mysis, silversides, krill, daphnia, zooplankton, whole shrimp... geez, Tim has more food for his fish than for himself.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: What's this BTA doing? Oh! Okay. When I tried last week (it's been more than a week since I tried feeding it) nothing stuck really, think I tried to give it mysis. The trick is going to be getting a turkey baster in there at that angle... maybe I still have those plastic syringes I fed the baby birds with.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: What's this BTA doing? Don't know, hard to tell. I've been going for flakes/cyclopeeze/few bloodworms about 50% of the time, with mysis, daphnia and krill scattered in between. Feeding once a day. Seems to me about 10 percent of the food floats to the bottom, Tim has a couple blennies down there but I think they're both lawnmowers. Hard to tell if food gets down to the BTA, he's completely upside down but I see him sort of bending his "head" out a smidge once in a while to catch a few rays. He does seem to be deliberately touching the substrate once in a while, perhaps he's picking up detritus to eat? There is some down there, it's a spot that's tough to get with a vacuum.
