Question Type of Anemone for Ocerallis Clown and Cinammon Clonw?

Hi...I am wanting to get an anemone for my clown fish that they will host in and take to it right away. What should I get?

I have a ocerallis clown (nemo) and a cinammon clown.

Re: Type of Anemone for Ocerallis Clown and Cinammon Clonw?

First off, it's highly unlikely that the 2 different clown species will tolerate each other in the same tank for very long. Odds are, the cinnamon will kill the oscellaris. I can't think of an example anytime in my 30 years in the hobby that 2 species of clownfish have tolerated each other in the same anemone. You're going to have to decide which one you want, and get rid of the other.
You don't say how big your tank is, nor any other information about the tank, (lights, how much live rock, skimmer, age, etc.) but anemones are NOT recommended for beginners in the hobby, nor are they recommended for new tanks. The general recommendation is not to add an anemone until the tank has been cycled for 1 year. That allows the tank to go through the many cycles and phases that all tanks go through as they mature, PLUS it gives the hobbyist time to learn husbandry, maintenance, get things like lighting upgraded, etc.
Almost all anemones require VERY intense lighting. For MOST species, that means Metal Halides. The Bubble-Tip Anemone (BTA) can do fine with VHO or T-5 lighting IF you use enough of them. (I ran 380 watts of VHO over one tank with anemones, and 660 watts of VHO over my other anemonarium)
These beautiful "Flowers-of-the-Sea" are not something easy to keep, nor something to just "jump into"...

Exclamation Re: Type of Anemone for Ocerallis Clown and Cinammon Clonw?

First off....I am not a beginner of this hobby...I have been doing this for 3 yrs now. My clownfish seem to get along just fine together. They are like bossum buddies.

All I wanted to know is what kind of anemone to get?

Re: Type of Anemone for Ocerallis Clown and Cinammon Clonw?

Ocellaris Clowns are usually very picky about which Anemones they take to and of course it has to be the most difficult Anemones to keep in captivity like the Magnifica and Gigantea...lol

I agree with Boomer Cinnamon Clowns once they mature can become VERY aggressive especially if it becomes a female. Even though they may get along in the beginning odds are it won't last IMHO.
