Re: My Green Buble

Looks like he has split to me. Unfortunately this is often due to stress. Not always but that is often the case. What kind of lights do you have? How mature is the tank? What are your levels and how much to they vary. Anemones need high light and very good water parameters to survive long term. You say it won't take food. Is it sticky? You can try feeding it small pieces of regular shrimp or silversides.

Re: My Green Buble

It sucks if he split because of stress, but the his and her clown/anemone photo is hilarious! They haven't been married long enough to need separate beds. lol

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: My Green Buble

Update:

So he has readjusted him self back to his normal Poach and He is still one entity Is it possible for an anemone to have 2 feet? or maybe a foot with toes? lol ..... noticed him right after the move and he was closing up I had a chance to take a peak at his mouth and it looked very open and wasnt looking really good which concerned me but now that he has reopened into one Big anemone I got to take another peak at his mouth which looked MUCH better it was closed up very tight and back to what I would say is normal size for how big he is (based upon all the other Anemones that I have seen) So i'm thinking that he spread him self between the spaces for who knows why and it prolly just so happend that his mouth was in the strech against the rock. I Will post some pictures of him closed and reopened in a bit.

Also I decided to try to feed him after the reopening and the shrimp stuck to some or most of his tenticles and he Semi Closed up so i Assumed he ate the food. considering that there is none left to be seen inside or on his tenticles

Re: My Green Buble

It will finish splitting eventually. It may or may not have a functional mouth right now but it sounds like it is hungry...

Re: My Green Buble

Good news that he ate. I would cut back on the feedings to every other day. He is more likely to take the food that way and it is plenty. Glad to hear the mouth is better. That is one of the signs to look for. I love the clowns in their separate halves of the anemone. That is super cute. I agree with Woodstock, I think it will eventually split. For some reason the foot just went first. Splitting is not always a sign of stress but since he is a recent addition that is probably it. It went through who knows what before arriving in your tank. They are very slow to respond so this may be an indication of it being stressed way before you got it.

Unfortunatly before reading this I allready Fed him some more mysis and within seconds he was pulling in what his tenticles had clutched onto and was done eating within 10 mins. I will cut back on the feeding to every other day as you have reccomended. some of his tenticles seem to be fattening and a few appear like they are gaining some buldge to them so im sure this is a good sign.

Re: My Green Buble

Very glad he is still eating for you. The loss of the feeding response can be the first sign of a problem. If he is eating that fast then that is good. You may want to try larger foods such as a piece of krill or silversides. They often like that as well. Just cut the food to a size appropriate for the mouth of the anemone and feed with tongs.

Re: My Green Buble

I feed my anemones a variety of foods at least 3 times per week. They will get one of the following foods freshly thawed and diced in 1/2" slices; silversides, shrimp, scallop, homemade mush, or krill.

Re: My Green Buble

Don't they stop eating right before and immediately after they split?
Just want to confirm.

I will try that! lately when ive been feeding him ive been giving him droppers full of shrip and its soo cool one my hand enters the water he completly opens up and exposes his mouth for me to squirt the first batch right into his mouth and then i put the second batch all over his tenticles and he grabs them quickly and then thats it.

Re: My Green Buble

You should begin feeding it larger pieces (1/4") of raw shrimp, scallops, tuna, or even thawed cubes of fish food. Be certain the food is not spoiled. Feed all thawed foods within 24 hrs of thawing it. Remember that it takes the anemone time to digest it so you don't want it to begin spoiling in its stomach.
