What Happened To My LTA???

Hey everyone! I am looking for possible causes of an injury to my anemone. I have had this Purple LTA (M. doreensis) since September 2006. It was moved from my 29 Bio Cube to my 90 in February. It was perfectly happy and planted in the tank until a couple weeks ago (approximately). It went on a short walkabout and moved into one of my caves. Kinda ticked me off that he blocked my cave... but I don't hold a grudge long, LOL. Any way about 3 days ago, he moved completely behind the rocks, there is a ton of room back there and I could see him. All was ok... I kinda blamed his move on a HUGE bubble coral that he didn't like...
Until, he came out yesterday looking like this...

He looks much better today... except some of the "bad" tentacles are now stubby, but healing.

I would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to what could have caused this much damage to him...
And any tips on helping to nurse him back to health. Thanks Guys and Gals!!!!

I assume you've tested all the water parameters?

Yes I have and all are right on track... do you really need me to post them? LOL.
These were yesterdays... Saturday is test day.
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
pH 8.2
Temp 80.1
SG 1.027 (I used my new refractometer heehee)
Alk 10
Calcium 400
Phos 0
And the kitchen sink too...

This really appears to be physical damage though...

Suspect #1 the bubble bandit! long sweepers and a nasty burn. hopefully fine in a couple of days. Karma for pain and suffering lol

Is a bubble corals sting bad enough to affect the anemone? I know bubbles have pretty aggressive sweepers, but I would think an anemone would have no problems with it?
The clowns aren't playing too rough with it are they?

Thanks Squashy! The bubble bandit will be put in timeout. I was thinking about moving it to the Cube anyway!!! Weird though, I would have put my money on the nem, LOL.

I thought about the clowns... although they have been with it since the beginning. Is it possible that they didn't like where it moved... and tried to move it back??? I'll have to find a way to cover it... definitely won't fit under a strawberry basket.

Any ideas? Colander? Will that block too much light?

maybe you can make something with some plastic mesh to keep them out temporarily until it heals back up?

It could have also been a crab. If the anemone caught it it could have tried to free itself with its claws.

Sorry for your amemone problems, I have seen a clownfish tear apart a BTA for no aparent reason...

I hope that's not the case Danny!!! I will be VERY upset... This anemone has been a real "trooper". He's been through a lot since I got him way too early and put him originally in a tank that wasn't ready for him in many different ways... I'll keep an eye on those clowns and if they are beating it up... they will be put in timeout with the Bubble in the Bio Cube...

I hope it isn't the clowns, I love mine...how long have they been together? I'd keep a hairy eyeball on em for awhile...lol

The clowns have been with it since they were juvies. I added the nem and them at the same time in September... so about 7 months. I would really hate to seperate them... but I'm not going to let them kill it either... they have been warned, LOL.
