Re: Can I put a carpet anemone in with my 2 others??

I would go with larger changes. 10% is more of a maintenance amount. If you are trying to dilute the polutants then you need bigger numbers. I would do at least 25% changes until there is no detectible amonia or nitrite and low nitrates. The fish could handle a significant amount of nitrates but he anemone cannot. They need perfect or near perfect water to survive.
Did you ever get a pic of yours so we can try to identify it? Hopefully it is a bubble tip since they have the best chance of surviving with power compact lighting.

No, i forgot all about the pictures!! I was too busy trying to save the world!! I will do a larger water change tonight when I get home.

I don't think it is a Bubble Tip anemone, only because there are no bubbles on his tips. He/she has long tenticles with pointy purple tips. Hopefully I can remember the pic tonight!!!

That makes me angry that I don't have enough lighting, the LFS said that it is more than enough!!!

The equally critical issue is the lack of a properly matured tank. I would seriously re-think what store you go to if you have a choice. Regardless you have done the right thing by starting to research. That is really your only weapon against a bad lfs or a bad lfs employee. I never trust one I go to until I have had repeated positive interaction with them where I know I was given the correct answer. Sometimes I ask a question that I know then answer but sometimes I ask a question about something I don't know and then come home and do my own research. You should never buy livestock without doing your own research. Only you know all the specs on your system and what combines with what is a very important consideration. Otherwise you will keep having incidents like the butterfly and the anemone.
Also on the anemone, not all bubble tips have bubbles. Sounds wierd I know but particularly one that is stressed will often not have bubbles. I had one for 6 months that never had bubbles but was still a bubble tip anemone. The best bet is to post a pic showing the tentacles, one showing the base and one showing the mouth. All 3 come into play on a correct ID. Unfortunately I am bad with the ID game particulartly anemones but we have several people around who are very good. One of them can probably ID it with some pics. Then you can research that anemone and see if you do or do not have enough light. Did you find out how many watts your bulbs put out? Also the kelvin rating is important. Usually both numbers are on the bulb.

Re: Can I put a carpet anemone in with my 2 others??

Oh, I'm re-thinking, that's for sure!! We have a couple of smaller stores in our areas, that are probably safer, with employees that actually know what their talking about!!! My babysitter has a guy she goes to that she never has any issues with, so i think I will see if she can get me in with him.

Interesting that not all bubble tips have bubbles!! You would think they would, but in the fish world, not everything is as it seems!! He didn't have bubbles when we bought him though, and we got him from another guy who is an extreme fish goo-roo. I'm not sure if my hubby told him how new our tank was, I'm guessing not because he advised us against alot of things while we were there. It seemed that he had the fish's best interests in mind. He knew what every fish was, what it's temperment was, who NOT to put it in the tank with, what they like to eat, etc. We should have asked HIM more questions!!! He actually wouldn't let me get the anemone that I wanted because he said that I needed ultra bright light to have one. We will probably go to him from now on, or try a few different places. His prices were a little steep, that's why we ended up stopping by the other LFS too. Looks like quality is worth the price!! The other store actually sold my husband and anemone and a Raccoon Butterfly at the same time!!! I would think they would know that the anemone would become a snack!! I don't think I will ever get over that, it was horrible!!

Anyhoo, I will do my best to remember the pic of my anemone, and also to look at the bulbs once I get home this evening. It's hectic around there when I get home because I have 2 babies. One 13 month old and one 28 year old (my hubby).

Thanks bunches!!

I know that feeling but mine are all older. They are just big babies though.
