clown rolling anenome

hey everyone i'm fairly new at saltwater and everything i've gotten has thrived and seemed pretty easy to care for until i got this last anenome i have several damsels and 3 different clowns and i just got what i was told was a purple anenome from one of the local pet stores it's the first one any of the clowns went into my marroon went into it and really seems to like it but he rolls it all around on the one side of the tank it didn't seem to be bothering it but today when i turned the lights on half the tentacles were shriveled and gray the curlyQ anenome is fine though any ideas what is wrong i can't find much info on anemone care

Re: clown rolling anenome

Is the anemone attached to anything? or just floating around because the clown might be stressing it out and preventing it from attaching.

Re: clown rolling anenome

my percula just stole the anenome off the marroon and moved it to the center of the tank he doesn't seem to be moving it around anymore since he moved it to the center he just keeps the marroon and the cinnamin away from it this is too stressful lol

Just watch the powerheads. if it floats around it may get sucked in...Is the anemone sticky to the touch? if not it may be sick.Watch it real close.

Re: clown rolling anenome

no it's not sticky to the touch i thawed a piece of krill and brought it up to temp in the tank then touched it to the anenome and it didn't stick so i guess it's not eating now either but all the gray tentacles are back to normal and the percula is keeping it in the same place it looks like it might be latching onto some of the live rock now should i just leave it go or do something and if so what should i do i've never had anything get sick or die in saltwater only things i've ever lost were freshwater

I would leave it and see if it makes it... How much light do you have on your tank? And how longhave you had it?

Re: clown rolling anenome

You may want to separate the clowns from the anemone until the anemone has a chance to settle in. How big is your tank? You could have some turf wars between the clowns with the anemone in the middle. Cinnamon clowns are notoriously aggressive. Good luck!

Re: clown rolling anenome

the cinnamin is accually very mellow he doesn't cause any problems it's the percula and the marroon that are causing the problems the marroon took the anenome back and is rolling it again they're in a 46 bow i'm going to stack live rock around the anenome so it can't be rolled till it can attach or should i totally seperate it with a divider of some kind

Re: clown rolling anenome

You can try the stacking of LR, but it's best, if possible, to separate them until the anemone settles. It's not a matter of the clown rolling the anemone. The fact is, it sounds like, the poor anemone can not get a foot hold with all the clown activity.

Re: clown rolling anenome

I expect that your' Anemone is in your' live rock somewhere. There really isn't any other place for her to be. Hopefully She's getting a foothold so that she can settle in. Anemones aren't exactly great animals for new tanks, and require excellent water conditions and stability. If she does come back out of the rockwork somewhere, it would probably be better for her if your' clowns weren't fighting over her all the time. I'd consider removing one of the two "Warring" Clowns.
Regards,
Dean
