Missing BTA?!

Ok.. I was watching my BTA on Sunday and she was shrunk but then started to expand and looked like she was going to move.. a few hours later.. she was moved a little but not far.. then I look the next day and cannot find her at all.. she is not in the overflow and my water levels are all ok so she could not have died because that would have messed with the levels right?

Should I just be patient and see if she shows herself or should I take apart the live rock in hopes of finding her?

Be patient... they will move to where they want to move and there is nothing you can do to stop them.

Re: Missing BTA?!

Ok because I had a mated pair of clownfish that I was going to be getting and did not want to put them in the tank without knowing if she is ok because the guy said he would mate them with a BTA in his tank and I could put the trio in my tank all at once.

Should I do this or just be patient to see if my original one emerges?

Would two BTA be ok in a 55 gallon? They are not large.

Be patient. Keep looking around for her and your right, if it had died in your tank your ammonia would certainly spike.

Re: Missing BTA?!

My Rose BTA actually split about 3 months ago. I had 2 BTA's each about half the original and they didn't appear for a few days

Re: Missing BTA?!

Well today is water change day..

so I am going to go in there and move stuff around when I do my water change and see if I can see her..

also I have to epoxy the zoos that I got recently today since I finally have decided that I like where they are.

Let's see if I find her tonight.

Re: Missing BTA?!

Ok I did not have a chance to go to the LFS on the way home so I was not able to get the Epoxy and the water for my water change but I did disassemble and look for her last night..

no sign of her at all.

yet still no spikes or anything to indicate that something died in my tank.

Could my cleanup crew have done that good of a job and cleaned everything up to avoid a spike that a dead anenome would cause?

Re: Missing BTA?!

Don't give up hope Sharky! I know you have already moved things around, but IMO I wouldn't do too much for fear that you will kill it, disturb its splitting or entomb it in or under the rock. They are reported to disappear for a week or more while they divide. Keep an eye on the water parameters and wait it out.
