Re: anemone guess~

Hi there Dave.

A shot of the column/verrucae will help, too.

Also, if you can take a shot when the main lights are on without actinics.

Best,
Ilham

Re: anemone guess~

the base was very hard to get. stretched down into the middle back of tank. in the rim pic you can see how it grabs and holds its self open. and a day light shot of him in day light.

Re: anemone guess~

Witt, Dave it looks like a HM to me. Here is what to do.

Look at the column and see if there are longitudinal rows of traslucent verrucae ( raised like bumps). They will be at the top of the column. BTA's do not have these welt/wart like stuctures at all. The column of HM is also usaully very bright, blue, purple, yellow, red or white and sometimes brownish. Tentacles of BTA's are usually of two typies/shape/form, although they may be different lengths. Those of the HM are all the same form/shape.

deep purple base and large (notice size as to the cement block) and has gripping tenticles at base (underside) on rim.

This buy its self tells me it is HM.

You can see this rowed bumps here at the top of the column. Here is a grerat shot of them

Re: anemone guess~

Nice anemone photo Boomer.

THe photos from Dave does not show purple column, although maybe it does, but just does not show. The first pic is just too blue/purple to even guess/tell. The photo with the regular lights on, just doesn't bring out a purple color.

For now, I will stick with BTA, but it is a nice anemone nonetheless.

Best,
Ilham

Re: anemone guess~

No but Witt says this

deep purple base and large (notice size as to the cement block) and has gripping tenticles at base (underside) on rim.

That is no BTA. HM's are know for their gripping tentacles on the rim. They can be really sticky at times and will stick to the back side of your hand as long as "he" has them armed.
