Re: Questions about BTA

Thanks all

Kyle, all anemones require a well-matured, stable tank to do well. The general recommendation is 1 year old or more.
The 4X54 watt T-5's MIGHT be enough, if the tank is shallow enough.
That last pic is in a standard 40 long, (36X15X16) and they did wonderfully under 4X95 watt VHO's. You'll need to get rid of the canister filters, (horrible for any reef anyway) and get an efficient protein skimmer. If you need to go HOB, then a Remora Pro would probably be OK on your 75.

I started with ONE rose anemone, and over the next 2 years, sold 6 that were larger than the original one was...each for MORE than I paid for the original...Then, the glut of chinese roses hit the market, and prices fell through the floor. One bay area store had over 400 at one time! Quite the sight to see...I haven't heard that they were illegal to sell, (just a BTA in a different color) but I have heard that the Chinese government clamped down on their collection and export.

I was also fortunate to have a few green ones:

Re: Questions about BTA

Those are awesome... do you have AIM or yahoo Boomerd? i have some questions for ya about why canister filters are bad for a reef aquarium... i have the 2 canister 305's and a remora pro running.... is that to much?
