| Torch coral | QTing an Anenome? Ok I have a question. I have heard everyone say that you must QT everything that goes in your tank no matter what it is. And then I have heard that you should have your tank set up for at least a year before you add an anenome to your tank. Here is my question.. If you bring home an anenome where should you put him? in your QT tank that has not been active for a year or in your main tank that has? P.S. I am not planning on getting an anenome yet, but this question popped in my head so I was curious and thought I would seek the input of the experts here.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: QTing an Anenome? I don't think an anemone carries anything that would be passed to anything else in the tank. As far as QT'ing stuff, I usually just QT fish, I do not want one fish to pass things (parasites) to other fish. Corals on the other hand usually get an good inspection and a possible dip with medications to prevent red bugs/etc.... So to answer your question, I personally would not QT and anemone, all fish would get QT'd for about 4 to 6 weeks and for corals it depends on the coral type...

| Reef Sanctuary's Mr. Wizard ![]() | Re: QTing an Anenome? Norm The issue is any animal, plant or any water from another system may be a carrier of ick. Thus, QT to be 100 % sure for 4-6 weeks. Fish and inverts/plants should not be QT in the same tank.
