Re: ANY anemone

Condylactis anemones require the same kind of lighting as 'clownfish anemones"...VERY intense lighting...

Re: ANY anemone

Well Matt, I don't know how many fluorescents or what kind, but, while they may do ok with less light than most "clownfish anemones under sub-par lighting, Condy's are shallow water species, and should have intense lighting to thrive.

Re: ANY anemone

The tank was 8 inches tall with 2 flourcents. although i know they could have done better under more intense lighting like you are saying, they still stayed alive and did alright.

Anyways, what kind of lighting do you have on your tank?

Re: ANY anemone

No. I've kept anemones for over 20 years, and have always tried to provide them with adequate lighting. I HAVE kept BTA's, LTA's and Codky's under VHO's, but lots of them.

Re: ANY anemone

I used to have a Condy awhile back in one of my first tanks. I only had 1 power-glo fluorescent on that poor tank and he did alright. He ate krill and brine shrimp. Well... he ate those things until one night he decided he was going to eat my LION FISH. I took him back to the LFS and have never gotten another Condy, heh.

Re: ANY anemone

if you want to have a reef tank, you're going to have to get better lighting.

i don't know if you're going for Fish Only with an anemone or what, but honestly, it's jsut going to be problematic down the road if you want to add coral with those lights.

Sure there is you could get a Tube Anemone which have some very beautiful colors and aren't photosynthetic but you need to feed them regularly !
Here's some great info:
