| Star Polyps | BTA question We purchased a BTA that was paired with a maroon clown (when bagging the BTA, the guy left the bag open in the fish' direction and he swam right in!) Anyways, It seems to deflate on a daily basis and I have read that they do do this but haven't been able to really find too much on what is considered a normal amount of deflation. It seems to perk up within a couple of hours and I have read that 24-48 hours is average. Any thoughts? As well, when we brought them home(we have had it for about two weeks) the BTA was only about 4-5" big in the LFS tank and I walked into the room this morning and it had to be a good 8" across. My question about this part is that it seems to be the most magnificant in the morning before the lights come on. I have been successfull in hand feeding it (even though the maroon and I have different thoughts on this). The tips bubble up very nicely, it secretes what I would believe to be normal excretion. The tank is 12" deep and is being lit by T5's. I understand that anenomes prefer MH but I have read mixed reviews on this point. The BTA and clown are the only inhabitants in the tank. So: what is normal deflation and why does it look best (actually amazing) before the lights come on and only really nice during the day? |

| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: BTA question What do you mean by deflates? like gone limp or retracted? I got my bta 3 days ago and tucked it into a crevice, during the night she (LisaMarie lol) moved down to the sand bed right between two big patches of halimeda. When the lights go out it opens right up all night long, Im assuming the halimeda is a super supply of pod and bristle worms. During the day she contracts somewhat but the mouth is tight and the bubbles are very plump, acclimation will take some time I guess, but so far looking real good. Lets compare notes? Ill try and post a pic tommorrow. Steve |

| Angel Girl's Daddy ![]() | Re: BTA question I have had a lot of anemones over time but the one my kid has in her nano acts weird like that also. She has pc's over it and i never did that before. Always MH's. Anyway, her bta dose the same, looking best under the atinics and just before the day light pops on. It could very well be the lighting. |
