| Tubeworm | rbta shredded???? just bought one yesterday, seemed happy. well I woke up this morning and its MIA, I found alot of its tips around the tank. Do you think it could have been sucked up and grinded? I have a coulple maxijet 1200's inside the tank, and one of them has what looks to be part of it stuck on the filter.....is it even possible that it got sucked through the small slots???? the anenome was only about 2-2.5 inches dia...????? any ideas????? |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: rbta shredded???? Well with the BTA shredded and pieces all over the tank you want to remove as much as you can since Anemones can pollute a tank, you also want to do a good size water change and monitor your parameters ammonia-nitrate.

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: rbta shredded???? It always bothers me to see this happen, when it's so easy to prevent. Get the Hagen Quick filters, remove the inner cartridge, and they work great as pump screens. While they are made to fit Hagen powerheads, they can be adapted to fit Maxi-jets, or even Mag-drive pumps with a bit of ingenuity. ![]() The larger ones are available at most LFS or on-line retailers. The smaller ones are harder to find, but one of my local LFS had a huge stock of them a while back, and I stocked up...VERY handy...

| Tunicate | Re: rbta shredded???? what about wrapping the intakes with some sort of porous filter sponge stuff (a very poor explanation at best)? zip tyin' it into place? It was a suggestion by a LFS, haven't gotten to it yet myself.

| Achilles Tang ![]() | Re: rbta shredded???? Also - if at all possible arrange your rock and powerheads so there are no 'bridges' to the intakes. The rbta will not 'jump' or 'swim' over distances. So keep some safety distances around danger areas. Rbtas like deep recesses in your rock where they can plant their foot and then stretch out toward the light. Be deliberate in creating these sort of spaces far from danger areas. Once they find these happy places they may settle and stay put for long periods. But in the end -- these critters do go a wandering sometimes. It's like watching your kids playing in the street!
