Re: rbta shredded????

If you wrap the pump intakes with foam, then you have to clean them every couple of days to keep them from becoming biological filters, as well as plugging with detritus and slowing the water flow. (that's also how they become biological filters) IIRC, Maxi-Jet makes a similar foam filter for their powerheads, but I've always been able to make those work for me.

All it takes is a bit of ingenuity to adapt them to most powerheads...

I wish Frankie...it's been torn down for over a year now... In fact, the bottom picture is just before it came down. All the nice stuff had been cherry-picked...maybe one of these days...

Re: rbta shredded????

My BTA has been actually "Swimming" in the tank at night in the dark so I would say that ANY thing that moves in the tank should be protected from her. intakes, propellers, protiene skimmers and even moving powerheads, this is my first reef tank so I am finding out how much more diverse a reef tank is than a FO tank and it's these little things than make it more interresting. It's such a pleasure to watch it grow. Boomers modification ot the Hagen quick filters is Pure Genius.
