Home networking .... HELP! Okay, I'm going to break down and raise the white flag here. I cannot figure this out. Home networking between 2 PC's running Win XP Professional should be easy, right? NOT! LOL
Okay, here's the deal....
Don's Dell (I'll call it "A"), used to be mine. It used to be networked with a 1996 Gateway running Win '95 with no problems. The Gateway is no longer.
My PC ("B") is the new PC. Also a Dell.
Both are connected via a Linksys router (not wireless).
Internet sharing works fine (both PC's are connected to the internet with no problem).
I am trying to run the network setup wizard on B (my new Dell). Either it doesn't work, or I lmanage to loose my internet connection altogether.
I'm not sure which choices to make in the "wizard". I guess I'm making the wrong ones, LOL
If I look under "Network Connections" on "B" (my PC), I see 2 things:
"1394 Connection
Enabled
1394 Net Adapter"
and ...
"Local Area Connection
Enabled
Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network"
Okay, anyone want to hold my hand through this? I don't have a problem connection to the internet on either PC, but I want to be able to share files/folders, as well as the printer (currently connected to "B").
Thanks MUCH for any help!!
