i had to take this tank down about 3 years ago(big move) and have been thinking about it every since. still had my little 20gal to play with during the down time. the big tank has been running for about 1.5 months. added some mysid shrimp and pods about a week ago from my other tank to the sump and main tank. have not even started up the main tanks light up yet. light in the sump is on 24/7 though with a 18watt T5HO.
my friend started his tank same time i did. he already has a few fish his cleaners and some other inverts. i bet in a year and a half he will be fighting some kind of bac, fungus, type issue. doing it the way i am i never really even get an alge bloom and the right coraline and stuff get a big foot hold before the "bad" stuff can even think about growing. food populations have time to establish. the same time in 1.5 years no alge issues and my coraline should have alot more growth aswell. partly why i dont need so many crabs and snails they become more like another nutrient producer. just need a few for the scraps, can always add those if needed however. i had a change of heart about the regal angel not because difficulties with getting a good one for the redsea but size. i will post the new list in new thread. sorry i will be repeating my system info. but the list will be very different would like to hear what you guys think about it and which list you like better. i am posting it now name will be "stocking list 2 feedback" this is a DIY sump stand and retrofit T5 lighting some modification on the tank nothing major.will post pics as soon as i can find my flashdisk been looking for it for about a month. think i will be buying one next week if it doesnt turn up. so hope to see you in the new thread
