| personally id run it without the cartridge, to much of a nitrate factory, id just use it as a shield against intrusion of lifeforms. when powerheads are placed into a tank,,,sometimes its to difficult or a bother to pull them out every week to clean a filter on them. when there are more eficient ways to elimitate particulates.
but thats just my opinion.
