| OT: Reefers vs. Trekkies Just wondering what your opinion is. There may be some overlap, but do you think that reefers/marine aquarists react to marine hobby issues (lighting, water chemistry, etc.) in the same way that Star Trek fans react to phasers, warp speed issues, transport room issues, etc.?
I've never been to a marine hobby conference, but are there people with the same intensity/enthusiasm challenging discrepancies of the lecturers like when a Star Trek fan asks a character actor, "In episode #8438-C 'Mission to Jendell' scene twelve showed the photon torpedo exploding at 50 microns outside of the flex capacitor, when we know that in a previous episode photon torpedos only explode within 23.69 microns of a floating nebula. Can you explain that?" -The actor then squirms in his seat and wonders if the free plane ride and hotel was worth the aggravation.
Are we that geeky/emeshed into our hobby? I mean how many people do you know in your everyday life that go on salt water message boards and provide so much attention to...a tank? My girlfriend doesn't understand it, but at least she knows where I am everyday.
Not trying to start any trouble or offend anyone (especially trekkies).
