Like everyone else I get green algae growing on my glass which I scrape away. Thats normal.

Lately I have notices blotches of purple appearing on my live rock. I assume its coraline algae which is a very good thing, no?

But I have also notices little bits of dark reddish blotches on my rock as well. Its not red slime though.

Is this red blotches algae of some sort? I dont think its a good thing. Any ideas of what it is and perhaps what could be wrong with the chemistry of the water to be cauing this?
