It would not work w/o the foam adjuster plate because one pump would not produce enough pressure to drive the foam up high enough.You would have to drop the skimmer body low enough to where the current plate that holds the skimmer in place, would no longer function as intended.
For the one pump skimmer (I am testing) that would fit under the hood on the other hand, I would have to keep the skimmer bottom open and modify the holding plate to allow the skimmer body to sit about 2-3' lower then current design and still have the thumbscrews accessible for the user to adjust the foam level.
