big t's reef tank

Hey guys just wanted to share my progress on my new setup, hope you all don't mind too much. I will start with my stand. While it is not built w/ loads of 4x8's and loads of 2x4's I do feel that it will be a more then adequate stand. Some will agree, some will disagree I am sure. The stand is constructed of 3/4" 9 ply walnut finish plywood on the sides back and top. The bottom is a piece of run of the mill 3/4" ply. The top to back joint is situated so that the top completly overlaps the back piece on the horizontal plane. For the rest of the joints however the sides and front sandwich the front. I used almost a hundred biscuits in the construction of this thing! Anyway I will ramble on. The sides sandwhich the middle and then the front is biscuited onto the overall frame of it. The front is constructed of solid birds-eye maple. I used a mortice and tennon type joint to join the 4 pieces. The top section of the front is about 8 inches wide and will be supporting the full width of the front of the tank w/ no center section support, so I am doubbled it on the inside w/ a piece of 3/4" plywood. he stand dimensions are 49.5" wide 36" tall and 24.75" front to back

Here is a pic of my buddy ricky holding the doors in place for me

Here is a pic of the tank sitting on the stand in the back yard

This is a pic of the back of the tank right after drilling for my closed loop system

Bulkheads installed, I went with 5 3/4" and 2 1.5" schedule 80's

This is the back of the tank w/ the intake installed and the output manifold ready for installation

Here is all the closed loop plumbing completed

A shot of the ampmaster 3000 pump mounted underneath above the sump

Here is a full shot of the tank being fresh water tested. I just finished the sump on sunday. The return pump is a iwaki 30, it is just plumbed to a piece of locline at the top right of the tank now, but soon I will be adding a seaswirl right in the middle of the back, and will modify it to rotate 180. The plumbing actually didn't have any leaks and is now slowly filling up w/ rodi. Hopefully on Thursday I will begin the transfer from my 55g

One last shot of the inside of the tank while full of fresh

Well that is it for now, I got some nice new 50 lbs of LR from Walt Smith to add to the 70ish lbs that I have now
