Re: PLEASE HELP: Need Hardy Hair Algae Eaters For Reef Tank

Hello and welcome to RS! Sounds nice a nice tank (minus the HA ).

First thing,

my nitrates are at 20 which is high for a reef and it's because of the hair algae
I'm not sure if you actually meant it that way, but the HA is a result of the excess nutrients, not vice versa. Think of nitrates/phosphates as fertilizer.

There are very few critters which will eat HA. The only success stories I know of with HA came from a combination of things, but first and foremost, eliminating the source of the nitrates/phosphates. That, combined with limiting photo periods, ensuring bulbs are not old, rinsing food and not over-feeding, consistent water changes, manual removal of th HA, etc etc. will eventually lead to sucess. But it is often not a quick or easy process.
