| I thinkthe major factor will be how much will your overflows handle? Most 1" overflows are rated for 800 to 1000 gph, and in order to handle the full power of the ampmaster, you'd need at least 1 1/2" bulkheads and the overflow would have to be sized to accomodate it. I just went through this when I had an acrylic 180 built. That little detail slipped through the cracks, and i ended up with 1000 gph overflows, so I can't use an ampmaster for my closed loop. Original intent was 1 overflow to the sump, the other one feeding an Ampmaster 2100. Now, if I ever set this up, I'll be limited to a Mak4 or similar pump for the CLS. I really like the idea behind the OceansMotion.
So much so, that I sole my 2 3/4" sea swirlys that I was going to use for the CLS. My intent will be to use one of these in a 4 port unit. Maybe plumbed 1 to each corner of the tank... |
