Terry, they grow in salt water. I've got thousands down here where I am. They grow on the banks of the Indian River. The banks where they thrive are mostly muddy bottoms, packed with nutrients. There roots are exposed when the tide goes out and are the home to many different animals. Hatchlings find safe haven there in those roots from large preditors.
