Akwar'eum Too

Well, I've decided to end the Akwar'eum tank cronicle and start the new one. I will link to this one from the old one. Here is the old land of Akwar'eum if you want to look...:Akwar'eum

New news today is I have started my Beckett skimmer build. I am using Frankies beckett build as well as a couple of others. Mine won't be nearly as beautiful as Frankies but I hope it functions well. I have the parts cut out for the box, and am working on the Beckett injectors. I am using a 2" plumbing repair coupling to house the injector rather than build my own housing. It has turned not to save any time at all.. Oh well. Here is a photo of it so far:

And the box parts are cut out using a table saw. It was incredibly loud, if you try it you should wear ear protection like I did...WOW! Then the saw marks were removed using my router table and a straight bit and a fence set up like a jointer. I have a jointer but it has been in storage for 10 years and has rusted completly and won't budge at all and I haven't fixed it yet. Anyway, here are the cut out parts:

I used Frankies trick of using the drill press to cut out the circles. I had to figure out the process myself though and my first attempt worked, but I didn't realize I needed to cut the rabbet first, so I scrapped that one and cut the second one correctly. Cut the rabbet first... then cut the hole out! Good info right there! It's hard to do the cutting and take photos at the same time, so I don't have any of the work being done. Sorry. I plan on using one injector until I see it won't work because I have a pump big enough to push one but not two. I will build the box with a second injector opening and close it off so I can add one without to much trouble if I need it, then get a bigger pump.

That's all I've got for tonight... Welcome to to the fantastic land of Akwar'eum Too!
