I know there are a lot of people on here who say not to use addatives for things like fighting algae. I think that if I can do it without additives so can you. I am still learning. I would let the phosphate pad work for about 48 hours and see how it helps. Mine did wonders. And now I am running a phosphate reactor.

I think GSP might like a little less light than what you are giving it. You can move it to a little less light area and see how it reacts to that. Mine are under T5's and they are almost on the bottom of the tank and they are always open. Good luck.
