no, its not really bad. my dad & i took an outside brick load bearing wall at my parents, knocked the a 18ft section of it out, put an 8x8 header with 2 8x8 upright studs in the middle for support & one on each end bolted to the concrete block to support the ends. passed inspection with no problem, then we added 3 outside walls around the opening to make a huge family room. so 3 4x4 will be plenty for a 8ft section of a support wall. |
