Why skim. I never have! I do a small 5Gal Water change weekly, and have never had a nitrate problem Its always at about 20ppm. If your water contains more micro organisms, your coral and filter feeders stay well fed. I don't understand whay anyone would want to feed a tank then remove all the best bits from the water! Naturally weekly water changes of a similar ratio in a tank of your size would be a little more work, but not impossible.
